Although Catherine and her husband John, who preceded her in death in 1997 on the morning of their 55th wedding anniversary, lived in Marin County for 36 years, they still considered Wells, Nevada their home. Two years later she graduated from the University of Nevada in Reno with honors in English and a minor in art.

She was active in the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She met her husband John in Reno when he was stationed at the Reno Army Air Base. After marriage she lived in New York City while John was a New York City Fireman and Topeka, Kansas when John was in active duty with the Air Force. Catherine briefly taught grammar school in Montello, Nevada and then while John worked as a cowboy on the ranch she spent the next 20 years back working on the ranch feeding the ranch crew and doing the ranch's books.

She is survived by her two children, Wendy (Mike) and John (Judi), six grandchildren, Dawn Smit, Kimberley Triolo, Michele Rau, David Garrett, John ("J.C.") Blecka and Louie Blecka and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother James Cazier (Dorothy), sister-in-law Mary Blecka, and many much beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Her sisters Elizabeth and Harriet and brothers-in-law George and Stanley preceded her in death.

Catherine was very active with her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, Sunny Hills, PEO and the Lucas Valley Community Church.
